Ep.89 | “Stay fabulous and always be a flamingo in a flock of pigeons” are words that drag queen Flo Mingo lives by. In this episode, they sit down with Kalli to talk about living life as a straight man, finding true self, issues and advocacy in the queer community, body image, and the joy of drag.
About Flo Mingo:
Growing up in a small community in Western Canada, coming out as a gay male was not an easy or realistic option. So he lived his life as to what was expected of him. Married the mother of his five amazing children, and lived the life of a straight man. After 34 years in the closet, it was time for the world to meet his authentic self. Not long after, the world was introduced to Flo Mingo, a fabulous gay man with a flare for tall hair and a big personality. Living large and taking charge, Flo hit the scene and has never looked back. Flo does lots of travelling to bring awareness and continue advocacy work for the LGBTQ2S+ community and raise money for charities that he is passionate about. Flo has performed and hosted shows throughout Canada, including, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg and parts of the USA. To say Flo’s drag style is over the top is an understatement. She can be seen and heard from a mile away with hair that needs its own boarding pass, a witty personality that can draw in a crowd and a way to command attention. In the wise words of Flo Mingo, stay fabulous and always be a flamingo in a flock of pigeons. Stand out and live your life.
