All credit goes to my incredible client Elizabeth for putting me onto egg drop soup, which is officially a new favorite!
I recently completed a 72 hour fast alongside over 20 amazing clients of mine and this was a group favorite as the perfect way to break a fast, but immediately became a part of my regular meal rotation! It’s quick, easy, comforting, and so easy to customize based on what you have on hand and how satiating you want it to be!
See the recipe below! ⬇️

If you’ve never tried egg drop soup, but you’re a fan of wonton soup, this gives all the flavour of wonton soup without the carbs!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups broth of choice (chicken, veggie, or beef)
- 2 tsp coconut aminos or low-sugar soy sauce
- 2 large eggs
- salt, peper, and garlic powder to taste
- *Optional: 1 large green onion to top
This is the BASE for the egg drop soup recipe, but it’s an amazing vessel for other added proteins, spices, and veggies of choice!
My favorites are frozen mixed stir fry vegetables, shrimp, and ShabuShabu beef (thinly rolled Japanese beef)
Method:
- Heat the protein and coconut aminos or soy sauce in a medium pot over med-high heat
- While the broth is heating, whisk the eggs with salt and pepper, garlic powder, and any other seasoning of choice
- *If adding in other proteins and vegetables, set the egg mixture aside and cook your vegetables and proteins in broth
- *Once additional veggies and proteins are cooked through, remove from broth with a slotted spoon and set aside
- While broth is boiling, stir the broth and begin slowly dripping the egg mixture into the broth, continuing to stir in the same circular direction (best done with a wooden or non-slotted spoon) and remove from heat
- Add any additional cooked protein and vegetables that you set aside to the bottom of soup bowls and pour the soup over
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve
I love this with a side of kimchi and seaweed on the side!
